King David was called a friend of God, now what attributes did David possess that made him a friend of God? first off he was a tremendous man of faith and without faith it is impossible to please God, David as a shepherd boy killed a lion and a bear with his bare hands, he trusted God and killed a nine foot high giant with a sling shot, his total being was a man that trusted God in all his endeavors. Humility, David had all the wealth and power of a King yet when bringing the Ark back to Jerusalem he was dancing publicaly before the LORD and was condemned for it by his wife (Saul Daughter) now there was a man that had a problem with humility, as a King, David’s whole being was about walking with God. When David did wrong with Bethsheba’s husband and God told him their baby would die, he wept before God for three days and after the baby was gone he began to eat and do his duties again, he accepted god’s judgement as righteous and then continued to serve God. His heart was contnually in praise and worship unto his creator, God’s praise was continualy in his mouth. David was a King of grace and forgiveness as demonstrated toward his son Absolum and King Saul that always was trying to kill him (another subject about saving your life), such grace as cutting off the bottom of Saul’s robe as he slept and mourning for a son that did everything in his power to take David’s throne away from him, such grace and forgiveness is very hard to find, (almost impossible really), this type of grace is only found from the throne room of God.
In summation David was a Humble man that wealth didn’t affect, he was a man of great faith, he was a man with continual praise to his creator, a man with tremendous grace and love for those that belonged to him or that God had annointed. Accepted God’s will without question and still served him.
A friend of God, LORD help me to walk in faith, humility and with a mouth full of praise unto you, give me grace for others and a forgiveness of them as you have demonstrated to me, an Ocean of grace and forgiveness when I do wrong, and grace to never do that again, there is no God like him, there is no God but him, and King David was a friend of him, for me to be his friend I need to start and continue to practice the core actions that David walked in.
