This is the sixth Jewish fiest commanded by God, it is a period of examining yourself from the last year, repenting of sin and making any problems as right as you can with harmed relationships. There is a 25 hour fast to begin the fiest and it starts 10 days after the beginning of Trumpets.This is the Holiest of days in Judaism, a time to be freed from past vows, especially those denying Jesus. It is a period of a lot of prayer for frogivness and a lot of time in the synagogue. A time of cleansing of the soul from sin and a redevotion to the faith of Judaism, a very solemn day in the Jewish faith. As a part of their service Jews stop physical relations, don’t wear perfumn and a few other things in reverence to God. Jesus told the deciples that they were clean but needed their feet washed during that proceedure, it is a rcognition that as you walk through this world, even if Jesus has cleansed you you still can have a little contamination that needs to be taken care of. The Christian faith would do well to observe this fiest once a year to get closer to God. All of these fiests are God’s plan for the redemption of mankind and three have are being fullfilled today in the believer’s life and they all will be fullfilled when this Grace Diapensation is ended.
I believe this is the repentance fiest that the Jewish Nation will perform , when they are in deep-, deep, mourning over their ForeFathers having crucified their Messiah. The coming Messiah has been passed done from many generations and the Jewish saying, next year in Jerusalem, is a saying maybe next year as we are gathered in Jeusalem, celebrating passover, Elijah will come followed by the Messiah. Next year as our children go out looking for Elijah they will find him and Messiah is here to save us, from generation to generation, that is the hope of Israel, and after this deep, deep mourning, when they see Jesus and know that their Messiah was crucified, after that repentance God in his grace forgives them and everyone of them is now filled with the Holy Spirit, just like the Christians were, in the upper room. Now as Christ reigns from Jerusalem and all the nations come to the fiests, especially Tabernacles, men will be clinging to the Jews pants legs, begging them to let them be a friend, this is only fitting after all the persecution they have been subjected to through the years. The evil forces that entice men to sin are not in the earth and man lives for a thousand years under a perfect righteous ruler (Jesus) just to show man ( my opinion) how good it is under the righteous Government. Then there will be peace and brotherhood, prosperity, where every man sits under his fig tree, no one is in need, coming sooner than most realise.
