Hezekiah was the son pf Ahaz, his Mother was Abijah, Ahaz was a very evil King, he even sacrificed a son to Moleck, his Mother was Abijah the daughter of Zekariah, he is the last prophet in the Old testament before Messiah came. just a great man of God, his prophsies cover the entire history of God’s dealing with man, past precent and future. Hezekiah began his reign at 25 years old and was King for around 28 years, he was one of the best Kings Judah produced, how could a son of a King as evil as Ahaz be so righteous. The answer is probably is the influence of Abijah. He began destroying the idols and alters that the Jewish people had built to worship Idols, he even destroyed the serpent on the bronze cross that Moses had made because the people had started worshiping it as a God. He cleansed the Temple, restored the Priesthood and restored the worship of Yahwah.
The time period of j\his reign was the late 700 BC abd the beginnings the 6th centiry BC, he began his reign at 25 years old and it lasted for about 28 years. During his time, the kind of Assyria demanded tribute, he trfused to pay, stating his God would help him, The Assyrians took pride in showing of their cruelty to their captives, because Assyria was basically Iraq, the cruelty of those people makes sence. Sennarchib (King of Assyria) began an invasion if Judah, after sending a letter to Hezekiah, telling him that his God would not save him. He cinquere 42 Judan cities and was bragging about the amount os goods he got. Hezekiah was not sitting on his hands while this was happening, he knew to tske Jerusalem, Sennarchib would need a long seige of Jerusalem to starve he people into submission. He brought his craftsmen abd began building a water way through solid rock to take water from the Gihon Springs on the Temple Mount to the City of David, (Jerusalem), he had two crews working from both ends, meeting in the middle. They finished a tunnel that is tall enough to walk in and is 1750 feet long, This water way built 32 hundred years ago has been found and excavated During that excavation a Gold bell that decorated a High Preists robe was found, once again proving the Bible to be totally true but there is more, much more.
Sennarchib began his seige and Hezekiah laid the letter from Sennarchib before the LORD and began to pray for God to look on the invaders arrogance and to save the Holy City. That night an Angel from the LORD, struck the seige troops with a disease and 185000 died. Sennachibm then withdrew what was left and returned to Assyria, he was killed there just like the Prophet Isaiah had prophesied that he would be killed. Later Hezekiah was stricken with sickness and was very ill, the prophet Isaiah, came and told him to put his house in order he was going to die. Hezekiah humbled himself and began crying out to the LORD and God extended his life another 15 years Later Hezakiah was again very sick and the King of Babylon sent him a get well gift, He was naive and thought they really cared for him, when they sent some people Hezakiah, showed them al the possesions he had. Isaiah told him this was not too bright, this began the Babylonian captivity. This description and all the others in the Bible are being or have been confirned by Archaological and secular evidence, The annals of Sennarcabib confirm this truth as does a Greek Historion of that era.
